The C40 & Siemens City Climate Leadership Awards provides global recognition to cities that are demonstrating climate action leadership.

The second edition of this worldwide awards program specifically aims to reward best practices not only from well recognized leaders but also hidden champions, less known innovators and their outstanding performance that has been achieved with small budgets or in difficult environments.

It also aims to:
-Ensure that cities demonstrating true leadership in addressing climate change are globally recognized
-Enhance knowledge exchange between C40 Cities and beyond
-Enable dialogue on a global scale and networking opportunities

The application submission period of the 2014 Awards edition is now closed and over 80 applications were received from more than 40 cities. Submissions were well spread across the ten Awards categories and came from cities all over the world.

The 31 finalist projects have been announced, and winners will be revealed in New York City on 22 September 2014.

The 2014 Cities Climate Leadership Awards will give cities:
-Prestigious recognition at the C40 & Siemens Awards Ceremony in September 2014 attended by Mayors, senior city officials, and international climate leaders.
-Extensive global media coverage for the cities and their projects. Examples of the media activity initiated by the 2013 event can be found here.
-A report for each winning city featuring the winning project and city’s environmental highlights
-Winning projects will be displayed in the world’s largest sustainable cities exhibition in the Crystal in London, visited by more than 100,000 visitors a year
