BSC Event: Future of Sustainable Fashion

March 22, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$16.82 – $22.09

Fashion and textiles is the second most polluting industry in the world. Led by consumer demand, companies have pushed the industry towards fast fashion, reducing expenses at the cost of harming both the environment and people. From toxic additives to excessive packaging, poor working conditions, and unsold garments filling our landfills, every stage in a garments life poses a threat to the planet and its resources.

In response, sustainable fashion has risen with the imperative to minimize human impact on the environment and uphold socially conscious practices. Many apparel companies today are pushing sustainability forward by using sustainable fibers, integrating chemical management programs, decreasing packaging and waste, promoting recycling, and enhancing all around transparency. But how are these tools and their effectiveness measured? What can consumers do to better understand where their garments come from, how they are made, and how to dispose of them? Where is the future of sustainable fashion headed, and what are eco-friendly choices that we can all make today?

{Snacks will be provided!}
