Designing Green Roofs and Rooftop Farms

August 8, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$40.00

Calling all architects, landscape designers, urban planners, sustainability coordinators and greening professionals of all stripes! Whether you’re responding to an affordable housing RFP, or designing a high-end luxury hotel or condo building, you are likely to be integrating green roofs and or edible plantings into your design. This course will provide you with an in-depth look at technologies, systems and best practices for designing functional, beautiful and ecological rooftop green spaces.

This two-hour course will be taught by Brooklyn Grange COO Gwen Schantz. As a registered General Contractor and an experienced Sustainability Consultant, Gwen creates and builds innovative green spaces for a diverse clientele, from schools and non-profit organizations, to private residences and commercial buildings. This class will start with a mini-tour of the Brooklyn Farm with the majority of the class taking place indoors in our loft classroom directly below the farm.

This course offers AIA LU Credits: 2

Please note: This not the same “Intro to Green-Roofing” course that we’ve hosted in the past. This class is specifically geared towards professionals looking to dive into the world of green roofs and edibles. If you are looking to take an intro level course at this time please check out Modeling an Urban Agriculture Business, Intro to Green Walls or come take a tour.
