Gotham: New York City’s Best Writers: Richard Ford

February 21, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

In Let Me Be Frank with You, Ford reinvents his character Frank Bascombe in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In four richly luminous narratives, Bascombe (and Ford) attempts to reconcile, interpret and console a world undone by calamity. Bascombe appeared previously in The Sportswriter, the Pulitzer Prize and PEN/Faulkner winning Independence Day, and The Lay of the Land. Through Bascombe—protean, funny, profane, wise, often inappropriate—readers meet the aspirations, sorrows, longings, achievements and failings of an American life in the twilight of the twentieth century.

This series is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
