Preserving the Summer Harvest: Learn to Make Jam with the Brooklyn Fräulein

August 29, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$85.00

Join the Brooklyn Fräulein, Nicole Rutsch,  to learn the basics of making both sweet and savory jams. Once we’ve made our introductions we’ll take a tour of the rooftop farm and harvest the tomatoes, ground cherries and herbs that we will use for our jams.

Back in the kitchen, Nicole will walk us through the steps of making her signature tomato jam, as well as quick and preserved pickles and will show you the basics of how to safely preserve using the boiling water bath process and other canning techniques.

Nicole will also share some of her favorite recipes using jams for way more than just your morning toast! We will munch on some of her bites + enjoy jam-infused drinks as she shares how to use jams in marinades, on sandwiches, in baking, and more!  Workshop attendees will go home with a jar of jam and recipe cards.
