Screening and Discussion “Merchants of Doubt” and the Exxon connection

February 20, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - February 26, 2016 @ 9:00 pm

Free

“Merchants of Doubt” takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. The movie lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver-tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities – yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.”
(Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway. Filmmaker Robert Kenner).

After the screening, we will examine how these corporate tactics have played out in the case of Exxon Mobil and discuss actions we can take in NYC to challenge Exxon and “Big Oil” climate deniers. #ExxonKnew
