The High Line as Urban Accelerator: A Conversation

February 4, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$16

Photo credit: Friends of the High Line

The High Line has stimulated tremendous growth in its Chelsea neighborhood and sparked new thinking about multi-use, shared public spaces. When the park’s third and final phase opened in September, introducing direct pedestrian access at street level, it became even more connected to the city. Now New York’s most visited site, the High Line is a significant generator of economic activity and a model of public-private collaboration celebrated by designers, planners and civic leaders.

Join High Line co-founder Joshua David for a conversation with architectural critic Paul Goldberger and Vishaan Chakrabarti of SHoP Architects about the impact of this repurposed elevated rail line on the city and its economy. Reception to follow. Free for Museum members; $12 students/seniors; $16 general public.

Organized by: Museum of the City of New York

Speakers:
Joshua David, High Line co-founder
Vishaan Chakrabarti, Director of Columbia University’s Center for Urban Real Estate (CURE) and Partner, SHoP Architects.
Paul Goldberger, Hon. AIA, Architecture critic

Cost for each guest: $16.00
