Governors Island Alliance Family Festival

Where can you dance to live music, blow gigan­tic bub­bles, laugh with crazy clowns, and lit­er­ally tum­ble across the har­bor?  At the Gov­er­nors Island Alliance’s 9th Annual Fam­ily Fes­ti­val, of course!  Cel­e­brat­ing the startof the sum­mer sea­son, the fes­ti­val is a jam­boree of cre­ative arts and har­bor edu­ca­tion, and it’s all free!

Kick­ing off the sum­mer sea­son at GIA’s 9th Annual Fam­ily Fes­ti­val with tunes, jives, crafts and more!  High­lights from our Fam­ily Fes­ti­val sched­ule this year include:

  • Per­for­mances through­out the day by The May­belles, Arm of the Sea The­ater, Astro­grass for Kids, Michael Arenella, and Julie Pasqual.
  • An amaz­ing puppet-making work­shop hosted by Lisa Abbatomarco, face paint­ing by Bet­ter Than Jam, arts and craft activ­i­ties by the Children’s Art Museum Island Outpost;
  • Excit­ing envi­ron­men­tal and har­bor edu­ca­tion activ­i­ties with the New York Urban Assem­bly Har­bor School, the Met­ro­pol­i­tan Water­front Alliance, The River Project, and Earth Mat­ter; and
  • Fun lawn games, bubble-making, and bouncy-house tum­bling with GIA, Sage Logan, and the Har­bor School PTA…and more!

Fam­ily Fes­ti­val is also the per­fect time to learn all about what great artists and events are com­ing to Gov­er­nors Island this sum­mer!  On-Island part­ners will be there to give you a glance of what to expect for the bom­bas­tic 2013 season.
