A renewed push for wind power generation in NYC

While all those dots in the above image may look like birds traveling north in a V-formation, they are really proposed wind turbines, located about 13 miles south of the Rockaways in Queens.

Today, The New York Times reported that, “The proposal for the offshore wind farm, which is scheduled for a public hearing before the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management next month, is considered a game changer in that it would start at 350 megawatts but have the potential to double its capacity — eventually generating enough electricity to power a half-million homes in New York City and Long Island.”
