Shakespeare in the Park(ing Lot) and more free summer culture

Think parks this sum­mer. Out­door events abound. From Shake­speare per­for­mances and French films to pup­pet shows and sand­box pro­grams, there is some­thing for all ages across all 5 boroughs.

For movie-goers, some pop­u­lar series are the HBO Bryant Park Sum­mer Film Fes­ti­val every Mon­day at 5 pm on Bryant Park’s lawn, Films on the Green Fes­ti­val fea­tur­ing French films (with Eng­lish sub­ti­tles) every Fri­day at 8:30 pm at var­i­ous NYC parks, and River­Flicks for Grown-Ups every Wednes­day at 8:30 pm at Hud­son River Park pier 63.

For music lovers, some high­lights are Sum­mer­stage, spon­sored by the City Parks Foun­da­tion, fea­tur­ing a range of artists from pop to world music, the Met­ro­pol­i­tan Opera’s Sum­mer Recital Series, and Hud­son River Park’s Sun­set on the Hud­son, every Fri­day at 7pm.

For the­ater junkies, there is Broad­way in Bryant Park, every Thurs­day 12:30–1:30 pm on the lawn start­ing July 12th. Any­one look­ing for Shake­speare per­for­mances can find a plethora, such as Shake­speare in the Park, or for the more adven­tur­ous, Shake­speare in the Park(ing) Lot as well as many more.
