Get over the weekday hump with a visit to a local greenmarket! But first, some fun facts about your favorite summer shopping trip:

  • Greenmarkets introduced a rule in December  2011 to use grain grown in the region. Check out some recipes that use regional grain.
  • Since 1983, Grow NYC has partnered with City Harvest to donate locally grown food to the city’s food pantries.
  • Did you know that 80% of American seafood is imported? Help cut down on this statistic by supporting local sustainable seafood.
  • EBT sales make up a huge percentage of greenmarket income. If you use EBT, make sure to maximize your Health Bucks. For every $5 of EBT you spend at a greenmarket, you will get a $2 voucher for more fresh food!

Without further ado, here’s a list of greenmarket locations throughout the city. You can find one in every borough!
