New Congestion Charge in Milan

Fol­low­ing in Lon­don and Stockholm’s foot­steps, Milan has recently intro­duced a new con­ges­tion charge in an effort to reduce traf­fic – and the ini­tial results are pos­i­tive. In just the first week after its imple­men­ta­tion, incom­ing traf­fic decreased by 37%, as did black car­bon and other par­tic­u­lates along with it. The new con­ges­tion charge is for “Area C” – the new lim­ited traf­fic zone in the cen­ter of the city.

Sev­eral other cities around the world are plan­ning to do the same – what about New York?
