SUMMARY:Talking Transition Streets with Pamela Simms
DESCRIPTION:Photo Courtesy of Unsplash \nNew York’s Transition leaders will be hosting a free screening of In Transition 2.0\, the latest full length film about the Transition movement. It’s about how Transition groups around the world are responding to the challenges of depleting and costly energy resources\, financial instability and environmental change. http://www.transitionnetwork.org/transition-2 \nThe screening will be followed by a discussion with Pamela Boyce Simms\, lead trainer of the Mid-Atlantic Transition Hub\, about its new Transition Streets program. This fall\, neighbors across the U.S. will be meeting in each other’s homes to support each other in reducing their reliance on fossil fuels\, building social cohesion\, and strengthening their community’s resilience. Transition Streets brings together small groups of neighbors and supports them in taking effective\, practical\, money-saving and carbon reduction actions. A workbook helps each person to build their own action plan that improves household energy efficiency\, minimizes water use\, reduces waste and consumption\, explores local transportation options and promotes local food. The project\, originally developed in 2008 in the UK\, has spread around the world. Learn how to bring it to your NYC neighborhood!\nhttp://www.transitionus.org/stories/taking-resilience-streets
