DESCRIPTION:The Ride\n\n\n\nThis year’s Tour de Queens will start and end in tree-lined Astoria Park\, a stone’s throw from the East River. The tour will be approximately 20 miles through some fabulous neighborhoods\, including Long Island City\, Sunnyside\, Rego Park\, Forest Hills\, and Corona. Our rest stop will be at one of Queens’ most beautiful but overlooked parks\, Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village \nHow the Ride Operates\n\n\n\nThe tour rides en masse and will have a family-friendly pace (in other words\, slow). This is not a race.\nNYPD escorts the ride as a rolling parade\, and there will be occasional stops while the police and marshals secure intersections and gather riders.\nThe tour will be will be supported by safety marshals.\nLight snacks and water will be available at the rest stop\, located approximately halfway through the tour. Please bring your own water bottle.\nThere is no SAG vehicle for the tour. If you have serious mechanical troubles or become exhausted on the tour\, marshals will help you reach the nearest subway station or direct you to a bike shop.\nWe will be riding down two-way streets. Please stay on your side of the road while riding in the Tour\n\n\n\n\n\nGetting There\n\n\n\nThe 2015 Tour de Queens will start in Astoria Park\, in the parking lot of 19th St and Hoyt Ave N. \nPublic Transportation: N/Q train to Astoria-Ditmars stop \nWe encourage you to ride your bike or take public transportation to the tour. If you must drive\, be aware that there is limited street parking in the area. Tour de Queens participants are not allowed to park in the Astoria Park parking lot. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nRegistration is now open. Jazz at Lincoln Center has selected two up-and-coming jazz ensembles whose concerts emphasize original works\, each with one world premiere. \nSummergarden is free and seating is on a first-come\, first-served basis. The Sculpture Garden may close if attendance reaches maximum capacity. Entrance to Summergarden is through the Sculpture Garden gate on West 54 Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. The Sculpture Garden opens at 7:00 p.m.\, and concerts start at 8:00 p.m. and run approximately one hour to 90 minutes. The Sculpture Garden closes at 10:00 p.m. In the event of rain\, concerts will be held in The Agnes Gund Garden Lobby\, and the Museum’s 54 Street entrance will open at 7:30 p.m. The exhibition galleries are closed during Summergarden. In 2013\, more than 300\,000 peo­ple took advan­tage of the open streets. \nSum­mer Streets is mod­eled on other events from around the world includ­ing Ciclovía in Bogotá\, Colom­bia and the Paris Plage in France. The event is part bike tour\, part walk­ing tour\, part block party—a great time for exer­cise\, peo­ple watch­ing\, or just enjoy­ing sum­mer morn­ings. DESCRIPTION:Go to Freshkills Park for an opportunity to discover the trails and hills of the landfill-to-park project! Freshkills Park is opening up the future North Park and miles of additional interior trails for walking\, bicycling\, jogging and exploring. Spectacular landscapes and panoramic views await you! \nKayak Staten Island will lead a free kayaking program from 11am – 3pm in the Fresh Kill and Main Creek waterways\, bicycles will be available for riding around the trails\, and a bus to the scenic overlook will run throughout the day. Visitors are encouraged to bring their cameras to photograph the park in progress\, bring their walking shoes and water to hike the site\, and to pack a picnic or get lunch from event food trucks. \nShuttles into the site will run continuously from parking at Wild Avenue to the creek of North Park\, and on a scheduled basis from St. George Ferry Terminal. Visitors including bicycle riders and dog owners can enter the site directly at 350 Wild Avenue and do not need to take a shuttle. \nAll ages. Free.
