Often the struggle is less about the need for preservation\, but how best to move forward.  The struggle is complicated by the emergence of competing narratives each tied to a set of closely held values and beliefs.  To enter into the fray without understanding the roots of these beliefs is to proceed at ones peril.  But what are these underlying values\, and how can we enter into discussions with one another and seek common ground without sacrificing our highest ideals?   \nThese issues will be explored with the NY Society for Ethical Culture panel\, including Clare Donohue\, Founding Member of the Sane Energy Project\, and Lisa DiCaprio\, Energy Committee of the Sierra Club\, Atlantic Chapter.

SUMMARY:Protect Your Beach: Plant Beach Grass With NYC Parks
DESCRIPTION:Join NYC Parks in protecting and stabilizing new dunes in Rockaway. Dunes are essential for protection against damaging coastal storms. Beach grass helps to increase the size of dunes by trapping windblown sand and its fibrous root system strengthens dunes by keeping sand in place. \nVolunteers will plant beach grass along the crest of the dune. Please dress in warm\, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes\, and bring a reusable water bottle and snacks. There will be no place to store personal items. \nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required. This event is rain or shine. Planting dates are subject to change.
