NPR listens to the heart of the city

Public radio aficionados may have heard of the organization’s new Cities project. NPR is asking listeners from all around the United States to capture short recordings of sounds they feel embody the quintessential “heart” of their city. The project isn’t looking for iconic sounds of tourist sites; instead, they want to hear sounds that are off the grid, in places that are left out of tour books. It’s a great reason to explore your city for new sounds, or to revisit that favorite spot of yours. The project hopes to unite urbanites, and to reignite people’s passion for the place in which they live.
