We will spend the morning leading up to the event:

– weeding, mulching and caring for street tree pits

– learning to build low cost tree guards

All of which you can replicate at home!

All tools including work gloves will be provided. Please wear clothes you won’t mind getting dirty and, of course, closed-toed shoes are required.

The annual Bedford-Stuyvesant Summer Kick-Off is hosted by the Crown Heights Mediation Center, in partnership with the NYC Department of Transportation. The festival will feature music, performance, arts and crafts, games, workshops, and youth programming.

WHEN

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

1. Volunteering from 1 pm to 3 pm
2. Bedford-Stuyvesant Summer Kick-Off from 11 am to 6 pm

WHERE 

Meet us in front of the NYRP table. on Lafayette Avenue.

TRAINS

G train to Bedford – Nostrand Avenue.

(Walk down Lafayette Avenue, with your back to Nostrand Street, and with the flow of traffic. Festival is on the perimeter of Von King Park.)

J train to Kosciusko Street

Walk or take the B38 down DeKalb Avenue to Marcy Avenue. Walk toward Lafayette Avenue via Marcy.
