Urban Green Harbors Workshop is all day design charrette where attendees will learn about natural means of coastal protection and participate in a design team to incorporate these concepts into a design for a natural breakwater to protect Governor’s Island.

Coastal communities must adapt planning strategies to mitigate the increasing risk posed by these natural hazards. Come listen to leading experts working on these issues at an exciting presentation and panel discussion at the Center for Architecture.

Hurricane Sandy anniversary planting in the Rockaways

For the two year anniversary of Storm Sandy, Rockaway Waterfront Alliance (RWA) is bringing people of all ages together to create a nature protective buffer for the Rockaway community.

Families and people of all ages are welcome to participate in this dune restoration planting & biomimicry project. Students can receive community service hours. No registration is required. This event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.
