We last reported on Transportation Nation’s effort to document abandoned bicycles as an attempt to de-clutter New York’s busy sidewalks. But the mapping project quickly inspired a more sympathetic approach. Inspired by the artistic eye of so many New Yorkers, and the submission of over 500 photographs, they recently launched the Abandoned Bike Project Exhibit. The exhibit includes a selection of photos paired alongside poetry as well as some real-live abandoned bikes that, in the right setting, look almost sculptural. Sure to appeal to unabashed bike nerds and novices alike.
On display now through September 4 at The Greene Space, 44 Charlton Street, New York, NY (corner of Varick Street).
