ConSERVE New York City: Gantry Plaza State Park in Queens

FreeJoin the Student Conservation Association as they team up with New York State Parks for a day of service at Gantry Plaza State Park in Queens.
Located on the East River waterfront in Queens, Gantry Plaza State Park offers stunning views of Manhattan including the Empire State Building and the United Nations. The park also showcases the historical and ecological heritage of Queens, with restored shipping gantries and a resilient waterfront that includes wetland features and public fishing piers. Volunteers will help spruce up this iconic park for the spring with mulching, planting, and invasive removal.
BRING WITH YOU: Wear long pants and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring extra layers as the event will take place in any weather!
PROVIDED: SCA will supply breakfast and hot lunch for volunteers as well as work gloves and all project supplies. Plenty of coffee and hot chocolate will also be provided!
9:30 am: Meet at park for registration
10:00 am: Welcome & kick-off
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: PROJECT WORK
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Lunch & wrap-up
2:30 pm – onward: Optional tours of the park
