Voices of the Earth is a fundraiser held in honor of the Native Americans and Native American children. All profits after expenses will be donated to The Everlasting Tree School (http://www.everlastingtree.org/) and the Oglala Lakota College (http://www.olc.edu/)

PRESENTER BIOS:

Maestro Manuel Rufino:
Maestro Manuel Rufino is an artist and recognized elder in the Taino tradition. He is a spiritual guide, gifted ceremonial leader and teacher of sacred initiatic traditions of the world.

Tito La Rosa:
Tito La Rosa, a descendent of Quechua Indians of the Peruvian Andes, has spent more than two decades recovering and preserving, studying, and intuiting the ancestral music of Peru. He is a Curandero de Sonido (sound healer) and performs with numerous exotic instruments of Incan and even pre-Incan cultures.
Some of his instruments include condor feather pan pipe; condor bone flute; clay water vessels; clay pan pipes of pre-Incan culture that are over 2,000 years old; llama bone flute; conch shell and more.
He was a main presenter at the International Conference on Traditional Instruments in Contemporary Music, sponsored by the French Government. He also took part in “Heart and Hands: Musical Instrument Makers of America,” a Smithsonian traveling exhibit. Tito LaRosa is a featured artist on Kitaro’s 2001 GRAMMY Winning Album, ‘Thinking of You’.

Chief Perry of the Lenape Nation:
Sachem Maqua – Chief Dwaine Perry serves as “Ngeckeeyiiee”, or “Chief”, and “Sachem”, to the Ramapough Lenape Nation, The aboriginal people of New Jersey.
In his capacity as Chief, he has availed his many assets and resources in the areas of Community Economic Development. Recently, he has traveled to the Himalayas, South America and Throughout Turtle Island, building and/or renewing Government to Government relations. He proudly represented his Nation, at symposiums and networks locally and nationally to develop joint community and sustainable growth projects.
He currently resides at his childhood home, in the Ramapough Lenape’ “Deer Clan” community of Hillburn, New York. In residence is his wife, Pat. He is the father of two daughters, Susan, and Leah, and Grandfather to a beautiful Granddaughter Madison Hubbar

Kaherienenhtha (Martha Lickers):
Kaherienenhtha (Martha Lickers) was born on the Akwesasne Indian Reservation. She is the eldest of 9 children and has been teaching Mohawk Language and Culture for 30+ years. Kaherienenhtha is a first language speaker of Mohawk, she is a Faithkeeper of the traditional Longhouse and an Elder of Traditional Teachings.

Kawennontye from the Six Nations Reservation:
Kawennontye – Her voice/words are flying along. From Six Nations Reservation, I am a Grandmother and have birthed 9 beautiful children. I carry the responsibility to pass the Ancestral knowledge and wisdom of my Rotinonshon:ni People. I’ve spent my life learning and understanding the unique gifts/responsibilities that ive brought from the Spirit World. I would like to share the beauty of relationships as illustrated in our cultural practices.

Dream Seed – A Shamanic Sound Journey:
Dream Seed is a sound healing ensemble created by members of Golden Drum, Sacred Arts Research Foundation and Didge Project. Shamanic chanting, mantras, overtone singing, Native American songs, indigenous music, didgeridoos, crystal singing bowls, bells, gongs, harmoniums, tuning forks and other overtone-emitting instruments are used to create an environment conducive to deep relaxation and inward investigation. Participants are led through guided meditations and sound healing practices designed to harmonize body, mind and spirit.
