Come out on Friday, September 27th to help NYC°CoolRoofs paint the top of NYC buildings white! NYC°CoolRoofs, a program launched in partnership with NYC Service, the Department of Buildings and the Community Environmental Center and Sustainable South Bronx has launched a volunteer-based campaign to paint the NYC roof line white, which helps reduce building temperatures, CO2 emissions and improve air quality.

Here is the schedule for the day:

  9:00 am Volunteer Arrival, Roof Supervisor: Welcome and Introduction
 9:15 am Roof Supervisor: “Chalk Talk” Training and Safety Instructions
 9:30 am Begin Coating
 12:00 pm Lunch
 1:00 pm Resume Coating
 2:45 pm Clean Up
 3:00 pm Goodbye to Volunteers

Volunteers are reminded of the following:

YOU WILL BE DOING MANUAL LABOR ON A ROOF IN THE HOT SUN! Dress in light fabrics and colors. Shorts are acceptable. We recommend wearing old work/throw-away clothes as you will get coating on them. Sneakers are recommended for foot wear, no open shoes please. High heels or Flip flops will not be allowed on rooftops.
