Try Ben & Jerry’s new ice cream flavor, based on our very own New York City! The ingredients were chosen by New Yorkers themselves and using data gathered around the city.  Votes were cast physically by New Yorkers by either shooting a basketball into a specific hoop, going through a certain side of a turnstile, picking a certain recycling bin, uploading pictures of one park over another, or checking in via Foursquare to museums versus theaters.  There were other votes that were cast by gathering data on transportation throughout the city.  To choose between caramel or waffle cone pieces data was collected on how many times the 1/2/3 train versus the 4/5/6 train were on time. Adding vanilla or peppermint was based on how many cabs were heading uptown versus downtown. Aside from the actual casting of the votes, some of the ingredients were chosen from local businesses such as Sixpoint Brewery and Liddabit Sweets.
