FreeJoin the Tishman Environment and Design Center and the New School Buildings for a special Sustainability Tour of The New School University Center.
The University Center is a 16-story, approximately 375,000 square-foot building located at the intersection of 14th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The building has 230,000 square feet of academic space on the first seven floors and 135,000 square feet for a 600-bed dormitory on the remaining nine floors, providing space for all aspects of campus life.
Sustainability has and continues to be a core value at The New School, and it is incorporated into various aspects of the University Center’s design, construction, and operation. The University Center was awarded a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold certification for its outstanding focus on sustainability. The University Center continues to be among a select few buildings in New York and one of the few academic buildings across the country with this honor.
Tours will be guided by Erik Eibert, Assistant Director for Sustainable Initiatives. Tours will leave from the lobby of the University Center at 3pm and 4pm.
This event is part of Earth Week at The New School, sponsored by the Tishman Environment and Design Center.
