New York State Department of Environmental Conservation: Public Meeting on Sea Level Rise Projection
June 24, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeThe CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities will be hosting a public meeting for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to discuss the Community Risk and Resilience Act and projections of sea level rise. The meeting is open to the public and the Hunter College community is encouraged to attend.
The public will have an opportunity to comment on projections of future sea-level rise at four public
information and listening meetings organized by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The Community Risk and Resiliency Act (CRRA), signed by Governor
Andrew M. Cuomo in September 2014, requires DEC to adopt a regulation establishing official state sea-level rise projections by January 1, 2016. CRRA also requires DEC and other state agencies to develop guidance on implementation of CRRA by January 1, 2017. DEC staff will present background on the Community Risk and Resiliency Act, and scientific information DEC is considering as it develops its regulation to establish sea-level rise projections. Participants will have the opportunity to provide additional input for DEC’s consideration before it proposes a draft sea-level rise projection regulation. Additional information on CRRA and the sea-level rise projection regulation is available at http://www.dec.ny.gov/energy/100236.html
