Summer is already here! With sticky humid days on the horizon, it’s important to note that, near a tree, the temperature difference between shaded and non-shaded ground can be as much as 36°F. That translates into a safer, more enjoyable environment. Placed carefully, trees can also make all the difference in the energy bills of nearby residents. Come find out for yourself and help New York Restoration Project & Sustianble South Bronx to take care of this beautiful resource. Attendees will be cultivating, mulching, pruning, watering, and cleaning the major tree pits bordering the Hunts Point Recreation Center and major walking routes.
Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to join the workshop. Volunteers 18 and over must sign a waiver, and youth must be accompanied by an adult.
Snacks, refreshments, gloves, and tools will be provided, but be prepared to get a little bit dirty.
