The Battery Conservancy will celebrate the grand opening of The Battery Oval with a weekend fair (6/25-6/26) to engage the public in our region’s biodiversity and its emerging food and plant producers, illustrating The Battery’s core values.

Over the past two decades, The Battery has transformed New York’s birthplace park into an oasis of vast perennial gardens, educational farm plots, toxin-free lawns, and sinuous bicycle paths. The Battery Fair reinstates one of the oldest uses of civic space, the public market, at one of New York’s most prominent public parks. Since antiquity, public markets have protected and promoted fresh food, regional economies, and vibrant civic spaces.  The Battery Fair creates a new public stage for local food and plant purveyors inspired by this history and dedicated to the ongoing revitalization of Lower Manhattan.

The fair will showcase innovations in agriculture, horticulture, food, and craft, emphasize the connections between food production and plant production, and support and connect local small batch entrepreneurs who are defining alternative, sustainable systems of natural production without compromising taste and beauty.

Vendors will include: KingLeche Cremes, Lotus Scoop, Roni-Sue’s Chocolates, Amy’s Bread, Brooklyn Cider House, GrowNYC Recycling, and much more.
