To B or Not To B Corp Certified? Workshop

$15Slow Money NYC will present a workshop about B Corp Certification.
“B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.” B Corps are companies certified by nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency using IRIS standards and GIIRS analysis.
Today, there is a growing community of more than 950 Certified B Corps from 32 countries and 60 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
Sophie Faris from B Lab will lead a workshop explain The Whys and Hows of becoming a B Corp for food companies.
The workshop will also feature discussion of the Certification Process from start, with B Impact Assessment, to finish, with B Corp Certification. Nicole Reed, Communications Manager of Down To Earth Markets, will relay her company’s recent B Corp Certification in 2014. Sarah Endline, CEO of Sweet Riot, will discuss becoming a Certified B Corp.
There will be a special presentation from the Museum of Food and Drink: Capital Campaign. Peter Kim and Emma Boast will present their plans to build a permanent home for this new museum in NYC by 2019. Their mission is to change the way people think about food and inspire day-to-day curiosity about what we eat and why.
