A Talk through NYC's Commons at Fordham Law School, hosted by the Community Economic Development (CED) Clinic & the Fordham Urban Law Center.
We will explore gardens, parks, community farms and other shared real estate assets that communities have created as autonomous spaces outside NYC's speculation-driven land market.
In preparation towards the third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), to be held in Quito, Ecuador in October 2016, UN Women Office in Ecuador in close coordination with the DED’s office proposes a CSW-60 side event on “Habitat III Agenda and Gender Equality, Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces for Women and for All.” The side event provides the opportunity to influence the process towards Habitat III. It will advocate for the full recognition of and the important contributions of women to the urban development agenda.
The side event will address the priority theme of CSW 60: ‘Women’s empowerment and its link to sustainable development’ as well as the review theme ‘The elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls’ from the agreed conclusions from the 57th session.
