Lessons from Afar – Innovative Energy Efficiency Policies from Across the Atlantic

On December 14th, the Guarini Center on Environmental, Energy and Land Use Law at NYU School of Law, Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School and Urban Green Council, will hold a discussion on, “Lessons from Afar – Innovative Energy Efficiency Policies from Across the Atlantic.”

Themes for discussion include European building label schemes, energy audit regimes and public-private partnerships to catalyze building retrofits and promote energy efficiency entrepreneurs.

The organizers of the People’s Climate March (now the People’s Climate Movement) are calling for a National Day of Action this October 14 to demand bold action on climate change.

Our People’s Climate Movement Pop-Up at the Flatiron Plaza will be a central location where people can show their support for climate action in 60 seconds or less.

Night Sky: The Moon and Taurid Meteor Shower

Our Urban Park Rangers will be your guides to the solar system, discussing the science, history, and folklore of the universe. The Taurid Meteor Shower produces 5-10 meteors per hour. In between, we will use telescopes to explore the night sky.

As catalysts for alternative transportation, connections between communities and parks, and stormwater management strategies, greenways build upon a legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted’s “parkways” that linked citizens to urban green spaces in a pre-automotive era. Now, as bicycle commuting becomes increasingly viable, greenways support linkages across the urban environment. Furthermore, they often offer ecological resiliency through plantings and new habitats. My Dog Loves Central Park Fair

Saturday Sculpture Workshop

Saturday Sculpture Workshops are organized for kids ages 5- 13 and their families. Workshops are free and offered in the park’s education area on a drop-in basis. Participants work with a different artist each week, exploring innovative art mediums and a variety of subject matter.

Global Citizen Festival

The annual Global Citizen Festival tackles that effort, bringing together some of music’s biggest stars—Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Pearl Jam and many more are on this year’s bill—to raise awareness around the fight against poverty, hunger and climate change throughout the world.
