According to yesterday’s New York Post, Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park will be getting a public pool this summer. It will be temporary — installed for just five years — and about 30′ by 50′. And, it will only be about 3.5′ deep.
Though there has been talk of installing a pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park for a while now, the project that has just been approved is much different than the original idea — a multi-million dollar floating pool.
Regardless of its shallow and temporary nature, however, the pool will undoubtedly be a great and welcome additional public space in the city this summer, especially as the temperatures begin to rise.
