Hike the beautiful scenery of the Freshkills, a 2,200 acre park, the largest in NYC. The Freshkills was once the world’s largest landfill. It is now a symbol of renewal and restoration. Freshkills park staff will hike with you into sections of the park that are off limits to the public! You will be able to enjoy beautiful hills and creeks. The hike also provides the opportunity to learn about new developing parkland.
* The level of this hike is moderate (longer, faster paced hikes on rugged terrain). The path will include elevations with gravel and dirt terrain. Wear comfortable shoes or boots, bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a light snack.
