Sparked.com Microvolunteering. Skilled Online Volunteering.
Sparked is the world’s first Microvolunteering network.
“Easy, social, online volunteering for busy people.”
WHY MICROVOLUNTEERING?
Most of us live incredibly busy lives. With 60 hour work-weeks, kids, running errands, and the stress of everything else, it’s difficult to take an entire day off to volunteer. And yet, we do have spare time. But it comes in moments throughout our day. In fact, every single day, we spend nearly 400 million hours on Facebook and we watch over two billion Youtube videos. At Sparked, it’s our goal to offer *convenient* online volunteerism to you. We’re driven to fit volunteerism into the same kind of time that you might normally spend on Facebook, Farmville, or Twitter. It’s volunteerism for the digital age. We call it microvolunteering.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR VOLUNTEERS?
Sparked makes it easy for busy people to give back. It’s an entirely *online* form of volunteering that allows you to lend your professional skills whenever and wherever you have time. Whether you’ve got 10 minutes at the bus stop or an hour after work – we’ve got a nonprofit “challenge” for you. Get started!
WHAT’S IN IT FOR NONPROFITS?
Sometimes the best way to fundraise is simply to save money. Sparked helps nonprofits increase capacity by giving them a low-maintenance way to get free work done from a huge pool of talented professionals; including creative design, job description review, new product brainstorms, new website focus-grouping, media relations strategies, and so much more. No hoops, no handholding, no interviews, no overhead. Start getting work done! Start getting work done!
WHAT’S IN IT FOR COMPANIES?
We license a unique corporate experience called “Sparked Enterprise” to help companies around the world engage their employees and have impact. As far as team building exercises go, it’s way better than bowling. If you’re the person running your company’s employee volunteering program, it’s got all kinds of features that you will love, like: Facebook integration, extensive reporting, international reach, and much more. HOW DOES IT WORK?
Nonprofits post “challenges” to the network. Challenges are small projects – such as “Can you design a new logo for our nonprofit?” or “How can we dig a well in Kenya?” When a microvolunteer logs into Sparked, our challenge-matching engine recommends a series of challenges based on the person’s skills and interests profile. We use this same engine to select and email a “Weekly Challenge” to all microvolunteers. Answers to challenges are provided exclusively via email and the Web interface.
