Architect John Locke has put quite the spin on NYC phone booths — by converting them into free mini neighborhood libraries. More or less completely outdated since the influx of smartphones, Locke has looked to make phone booths useful again. The project, DUB 002, (part of his “Department of Urban Betterment” Project) is meant to make these photo booths into new sorts of public spaces. These new mini-libraries are full of books donated by local residents, and are meant to be completely free and open to the public.
