The website inhabitat.com recently reported on an audacious proposal by the organization Terreform to take sustainability to the nth level. Aided by a slideshow of radically imaginative renderings of what the city might look like if such a project were brought to fruition, the article states the plan, called New York City Steady State (NYCSS), aims to make New York City entirely self-sufficient by, among other things, utilizing nearly every bare horizontal and vertical surface in the city, as well as creating huge agricultural towers to be used as high-rise farming collectives.
